All-on-four Restoration

Patients who have lost teeth for one reason or another should be aware of the fact that lost teeth can have a direct impact on dental health and obviously appearance. That is why it is important to consider what options are available to replace missing teeth today. There are many reasons why teeth go missing including injury due to accidents as well as dental problems and disease. Because tooth loss affects the aesthetics of a smile it is important to address the issue. In addition, lost teeth make it more difficult to chew and speak. One of the best option for missing teeth is All-on-four restoration.

Visually Appealing

Dentures simply involve the replacement of one or more missing teeth with artificial teeth that are attached to a plate. With removable dentures, the plate is then attached or anchored to the natural teeth in some fashion. This is a good option because it is very affordable and because the appliance can be removed for cleaning following a meal. However, that said they are not as solid or visually appealing as would be the case with a dental bridge. Conversely, in terms of a good restorative technique, removable complete dentures are also an option.

Fixed Bridge

With this technique, the denture is completely removable and can be used to replace missing teeth on either the upper or lower jaw. Keep in mind that with fully removable dentures that over time they must be refitted or completely replaced. This is due to the fact that the gums and jawbone change as we age. The other option if not going with the all-on-four restoration technique is to consider a fixed bridge. The fixed bridge is securely cemented to surrounding teeth to create a perfect and seamless appearance. Adjoining teeth must be modified in order to accept this kind of bridge. This means altering perfectly healthy teeth.

Some patients have a concern with this and may opt for another option. A fixed bridge can last decades. Perhaps the best available option today for full jaw restoration is all-on-four. This simply involves placing two or more dental implants and then attaching a permanent fixed artificial tooth appliance to create a beautiful and attractive and fully functional smile. With years of excellent levels of success, all in four technology continues to impress people around the world in terms of a very viable option for full dental restoration.
